Aging Faithfully

Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you, and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4

Heidi Wiese is an educator and certified spiritual director who accompanied her mother in the losses and riches of aging. Heidi now shares her findings with those who desire to age faithfully and those who accompany them. Her heartfelt message will appeal to the spiritual senses of the lifelong learner, inspiring others to explore aging with the God who sustains them.

BIO
After a career in physical education and coaching, Heidi Wiese has turned her attention to adults. Heidi holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Services Counseling with an emphasis on health and wellness. Within the church setting, she has served as a Stephen Leader for the Stephen Ministry program, training others in the role of accompanying those experiencing life challenges. She received her spiritual direction certification through Tending the Holy, a course offered by Christos Center for Spiritual Formation in Lino Lakes, MN, and currently serves as a facilitator within the training program. Heidi is an instructor for the Roberta Kuhn Center in Dubuque, IA, an agency offering classes for people 55 and older. Her current class offerings center on aging faithfully and the practice of solitude and silence. Heidi’s passion for spiritual practices is fulfilled not only in her own engagement but in sharing them with others.

Singing the Ancient Psalms in the 21st Century

The Psalms of the Hebrew Bible are an ancient element of our worship tradition. Where did they come from and what do they mean in the 21st century? Author and musician Dr. Richard Bruxvoort Colligan will teach us about the Psalms and lead us in singing them. (Richard serves Mount Olive Lutheran church in Rochester as Director of Spiritual Formation.

His new book is Dangerous Songs: The Psalms and a Gloriously Disrupted Life). Dr. Richard Bruxvoort Colligan is also the Director of Spiritual Formation at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota.

Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to hit the trails, get splashed with color, and enjoy the beauty of Good Earth Village.

  • Registration: $15 in advance / $20 day-of
