About Good Earth Village

Good Earth Village is a year-round Christian camp, retreat center, and outdoor ministry serving churches, schools, families, and organizations throughout Southeastern Minnesota. Our mission is to create spaces where people encounter God, build relationships, and experience exceptional hospitality. Every member of our team plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment for our guests. We are looking for someone who enjoys serving others through food, values teamwork, and takes pride in helping create memorable experiences.

Qualifications

The Part-Time Cook is responsible for preparing and serving quality meals for retreats, camps, and special events while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.

- Commitment to Christian values and working in a faith-based environment
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience, including preparing meals for small and large groups
- Knowledge of safe practices when preparing for various dietary allergies
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt quickly, solve problems, and remain flexible
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (SafeServ certification preferred)
- Familiarity with ACA (American Camping Association) standards preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide quality food service for retreat groups and summer camp programs
- Proven cooking background with at least 2 years of experience for both small and large groups is required
- Shifts are based on business needs and flow
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations, as well as ACA standards
- Ensure kitchen readiness prior to guest arrivals
- Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitation of kitchen equipment
- Ensure kitchen readiness prior to guest arrivals
- Maintain a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for all guests and campers
- Work collaboratively with the Dining Coordinator, Hospitality Team, and other staff members
- Lead and manage Kitchen Assistants when assigned
- Possibly cross-trained to assist with housekeeping duties as needed.
- Represent Good Earth Village positively to campers, guests, and the community
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Be flexible with scheduling, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs for 10+ feet
- Ability to work extended periods in warm environments; safe handling of equipment and chemicals
- Responsible to: The Dining Coordinator of Good Earth Village
